Once we had compiled a list of all our positive achievements and acomplishments to date, we had a starting position. Start where you are now! The next step was to identify exactly what we felt we wanted from life and to write everything down clearly and concisely. Then we formulated a precise statement of what we all wanted to achieve in life, however bizarre or outlandish it may have appeared from our current vantage point. Once we had all quantified our future goals in writing, we left it for a week carrying on with our mundane day to day activities in the meantime.
After one week had passed we revisited our precise statement of written goals and reread what we had previously written. Did we still feel this was what we wanted from life? Was it necessary to amend our statement or were we happy with what we had written? I would suggest that perhaps you should do the same? Why not write a precise statement of your written goals? Return to it after a week and see if it requires amending!
Are you happy with your precise statement of written goals? If not, amend it and return to it after a further 3 days. Once your statement has been finalised as being an accurate record of what you desire and hope to achieve in life, then it is time to move to the next phase. The important point is to get started with what you have at present. So, lets get a written statement of just what it is we all want from life!

The 'can do' Approach
How many people are successful in realising their ambitions in life? As time passes without progress towards our goals, are we not all guilty of finding far too many excuses for our lack of activity? Take some time out for reflection. Thinking about our current situation our group listed every area of their lives where they were happy and contented. Why not do the same?
We were all pleasantly shocked to discover the degree of contentment present within all our lives. It demonstrated, contrary to popular belief, how a 'can do' attitude is common within us all. Our experience showed that once we chose a path to follow, we summoned the necessary strength within us to overcome discouragement and adversity. Of course we all had our gripes and we all identified areas for improvement in our lives but in general the group were happy with their lot in life.
The results of this experiment were most encouraging. For this experience enabled our group to contemplate tackling our goals and rekindle our ambition with a 'can do' attitude. We actually started believing in ourselves more than we had ever done previously. Furthermore, this newly developed inspiration amongst us gave us renewed faith in our own abilities and talents and was responsible for an intensification of our desire to achieve our goals and aspirations. What is more our 'can do' spirit led to positive action as we all started to erode that which we believed we once 'could not do'.
So for example, if your goal is to learn to swim then repeat to yourself daily 'I can swim, I will swim, because I am a swimmer! Before long, you will embark on a course of swimming lessons and learn to swim!

The Rich Tapestry of Life
Today, imagine that you are an accomplished artist. Your paintings and drawings are famous globally. Demand is always high for any piece of work that you produce, such is your success! However, a new challenge awaits you. For you have been asked to draw under the watchful scrutiny of a panel of judges. Furthermore, mistakes cannot be erased or discarded, but remain forever part of the finished canvass.
Every piece of work that you have ever produced to date was the result of painstaking preparation and many failed attempts before the final masterpiece was completed. As a distinguished artist you appreciate the enormity of the task that lies ahead. Supposing the clock starts counting down and you are left staring at a blank canvass, completely clueless about what you are going to draw. How will you deliver with the judges' gaze fixed permanently upon you? What if you were to make a mistake, how will it impact the final result?
Your big day finally arrives. A huge white sheet of paper is in front of you. Your instructions are to draw either a landscape or a portrait. The panel of judges are instantly recognisable to you as close family and friends. As you embark on your landscape picture, friends advise you to draw a portrait! Suddenly, without warning, the pencil slips causing an unexpected mark to be deposited on your white paper. The panel of judges start to doubt you, questioning whether you are up to the task. For a moment you feel remorseful and are wondering whether the picture is spoilt forever. Looking at your work from a different angle it is apparent that the unexpected mark can be molded into an additional contour that enhances and enriches the planned landscape.
Life is like a canvas but nobody is born an artist. We all learn on the journey, making our mistakes along the way! Our fiercest critics maybe those people who are closest to us. Only you know what is right for you! Don't be hard on yourself. Praise your achievements and forgive yourself for all your past mistakes.

Life Changing Ideas
Make A Break
Sometimes people can get stuck in a rut. It can appear that no matter how hard we may try, life just does not appear to get any better. Until, one day, a flash of inspiration produces just one small idea and we make the decision to take action and follow through the idea. This can make a tremendous difference. Finally, we can change course and make enormous progress with our goals and aspirations in life. Just one decision, can bring life changing success. One idea, is all it takes!
However, the vast majority of our ideas are ignored by ourselves. Or, if and when we do notice a new idea it is almost always dismissed as unworkable or too much effort. In such circumstances it is always handy to note down any new ideas and allow your creative mind to decide whether this path is right for you or not! Just think of the new idea, written down, and then clear your mind of any thoughts. In time, if the new idea is right for you, your creative mind will present you with a feasible way forward, a new course of action to pursue your new idea!
It could take hours, days, or alot longer for a way forward to manifest itself in your mind. Once it does, be rest assured that the course of action required will be the right one for you and instead of dismissing the idea as unworkable, you will feel upto the task ahead! It has been recorded that the solution to all our needs is contained within our mind.
